Air Show

Matt and Papaw took Jackson and Mia to the Mount Comfort Air Show last Saturday. Although it was hot, they really enjoyed it. They stayed far longer than I thought they would. They really liked the airplanes and hearing the bombs go off. Mia had her first experience with a port-a-potty which she declared was too "yucky" to use. Agreed, Amelia. Matt had to sneak into an authorized area only so she could go potty in a clean restroom. Jackson had no complaints. Difference between girls and boys?

Thank you

Thank you to all of you and your well wishes and prayers for our family. Everything went as well as to be expected Monday and I was even able to finish my last weekday training at the VA on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. We have received flowers, cards, emails, and even a couple of delicious dinners from so many wonderful people. Going through tough times makes you realize how fortunate we really are to have a great group of support. I know Matt is a great husband, but he has really been amazing this past week. We have a great way of balancing each other-when one of us is down, the other is up and vice versa. Jackson and Mia have been very curious and adorable in a sad kind of way as well. They knew about the baby and we told them the baby got sick and was in heaven with the angels and Jesus. We have explained what "die" means as best we can to a toddler and preschooler. They seem to understand in their own way and talk about the baby about every other day. We are looking forward to the long weekend (my last one off for a while) and some good family time. To whatever the future holds...

Sad news

Unfortunately, we have some sad news to report. At my 12 week appointment today, the doctor was unable to locate the new baby's heartbeat with the doppler. Since the last ultrasound was completely normal at 7 weeks and all of my blood work was perfect, he was not concerned and sent me to get an ultrasound just to make sure everything was ok. Sadly, our little baby stopped growing around 8.5 weeks and we are having a miscarriage. We were all completely caught off guard (including the doctor), but this pregnancy was apparently just not meant to be. Please keep our family in your prayers as I will undergo a D&C procedure on Monday. We were already preparing ourselves for our new little one, so it is going to take some adjusting. We are still, as always, grateful for the amazing family we have and the wonderful blessings God has given us. Thanks to all of you that have given us your support and love. We love you all.

Salsa

We have a plethora of tomatoes coming from our garden right now. Any one need any?? Seriously?? Matt has made salsa the last two weekends trying to use the tomatoes. I don't know the ratios or quantities of anything he puts in it, but it is delicious! He has shared with me that he puts in tomatoes (obviously), onion, cilantro, jalepeno peppers, vinegar, salt, lime juice, and cumin. It has a little more kick this round, but even the kids are enjoying it. Now I'm off to find more tomato recipes...

Family Dinner

Sunday was a beautiful day and we were able to plan an outdoor family dinner. This might sound like no big deal to most people, but for us even a sit down meal indoors can be quite an accomplishment. We grilled steak and hot dogs and had roasted potatoes, corn on the cob, rolls, and strawberry shortcakes for dessert. It was slightly chaotic trying to get everything ready, but once we sat down it was worth it. I think Jackson and Mia really liked it.

Dorrell visit

I took Jackson and Mia to our friends, the Dorrell's, Saturday night after the fair. We were able to see their 4 month old Carter (who I failed to get a picture of!) and their little boy Owen. I had not see them since one of the last Colts games last season so it was nice to catch up. These are our Colts watching friends (and regular friends of course). Not sure how many I will make it to this year with working on the weekends so I am glad I was able to visit them this past weekend. State Fair

Saturday we went to the state fair as a family with my in-laws and my mom. I must admit this is an annual trip so we can enjoy all of the wonderful things the fair has to offer (who am I kidding, it's really for the fried food!). The kids were great overall and there are so many things for little kids to do and see. Jackson even rode a ride and went down the big slide. A great day for all.



I also secretly love exhausting our kids so that Matt and I can enjoy a nice quiet car ride home!

Surprise Party

This past weekend, I was able to get a few hours of mommy alone time and attend a surprise party for a good friend from college. It was her 30th and needless to say she was surprised. My friend Michelle was there as well and it was great to catch up with both of them. As you can imagine, our family is so busy we don't often get the chance to spend alot of quality time with friends. This was a perfect short break to spend some much needed time with adults:)!

Working at the Car Wash

Memaw and Papaw constructed a "car wash" in their playroom at their house. Here are some pictures of them enjoying "washing" their "cars." In truth, all of our kids have either hated or currently hate the car wash. We always go to Mike's so I'm not sure why they don't like all the kid friendly things to look at there. We have some great pictures of the kids screaming in terror while getting a car wash. I can't find the one of Mia, but here is a classic one of Jackson. He and Mia are fine now...maybe because of Memaw and Papaw's "car wash?"
