Easter Activities

We have been busy with Easter crafts and activities the last few days. We colored our eggs, made edible birds nests, and did another craft I will share tomorrow.

Think the kids are tired of me constantly snapping their pictures?

Enough already, mom!

They're two, they're four, they're six, they're eight...

Thomas and trains are currently pretty popular at our house (for those of you without little ones or a Thomas the train obsession, the blog post title is the beginning of the theme song from "Thomas & Friends" which gets totally stuck in your brain for days on end it seems!) Jackson, Mia, and Liam put this "train" together one day last week.

Grant opted for the more traditional train playing.

As a side note, the twins are continuing to add to their vocabulary daily. Grant is still ahead of Liam (who we think may have a bright future in ventriloquism), and he has two words that are my favorite right now--"Hi" which is what he calls telephones and "Cheese" which is what he calls cameras. Liam has been using "Where go?" alot lately which is also one of my favorites. Fun age for sure.

Spring

Matt and I are not huge fans of our house in general, but I really like this tree in front of the house. It is so pretty and just lets everyone know that spring is here bringing the birds, flowers, and showers with it. Speaking of showers...
we...had...water...in...our...basement...again.
Argh! Not a huge amount-a lot in the laundry room, some underneath the stairs where we have things stored, and some in an area by our exercise equipment. We are really getting pretty good at moving everything, putting on our rubber boots, and going to work with our shop vacs. God bless Craftsman shop vacs. Without them we would be lost and flooded. We are trying to decide what to do next--another sump pump, perimeter drain, ????. Everything is fine and dry now. See why we are not huge fans of our house? Happy Spring.

Throwback Thursday

One of my favorite pictures of the twins taken by my mother-in-law on the day of their baptism. Liam is on the left and Grant is on the right. Such cuties!

Reversible Change and Jackson's "Job"

Jackson had some funny things to say yesterday so I thought I would share...

In the morning he took his hand and pushed the ice dispenser on the refrigerator and put one piece of ice in his hand. Of course I asked him what he was doing in a stern voice to which he replies, "It's ok, mom. I am just watching the reversible change." He learned this on a PBS show called Sid the Science Kid. My mom said that he explained the whole process to her last night about how ice turns to water and then it can turn back into ice making it "reversible change." Little smarty.

Last night Jackson and I were saying prayers. While praying, we often go through the blessings in our lives and thanking God for things like our home, health, and mommy and daddy's jobs. I asked Jackson to tell me what he was thankful for. He said, "I'm thankful for my job, mommy." I asked him to tell me what his job was to which he replied, "Daddy tells me I have a job. My job is to throw the diapers in the trash." Matt often says things like, "Jackson I have a job for you" and Jackson took this to heart. What a job, right? I guess right now though, maybe diaper trash duty wouldn't be so bad of a job. It's a job anyway. We did learn a hard lesson about giving the kids jobs like this though. The twins thought that throwing diapers away was so awesome they started throwing their toys, paci's, or really anything that wasn't nailed down or too heavy for them in the trash. This is unfortunately what we think happened to Matt's iPod. Let's just say that now the trash can is behind a baby gate and the twins are officially fired from their "jobs" at Steuer enterprise.
